Sorry, guys. I don't wanna hear how "cool" you think it looks. Sure it boosts my self-esteem, but it doesn't help me get any better at what I do. "/

even with the background there, there still seems to be a sense of flatness...this is highly due to the way you have done the shading...there isn't a sense of VOLUME...however the line work does look good and clean...

the blue thing around the neck can't been seen in the shadowing

Can we truely call this existance, without hearts?
:iconmotormouthmayu:
yes, I always have a problem with shading. ;-;
I have problems establishing a light source.

yeah the crayon/chalk effect is in the brushes.
If you go to the drop down menu in the options palette, there will be another drop-down box that says "default brushes."
Click that and there should be a lot of other brush options.

unfortunately I have CS version of photoshop :( but I wanted to get something like that effect...looks like I may have to find a plug-in or another brush...

I'm sure you could get that effect just by playing around with the dissolve settings of the brush.
Just takes some tampering with the program. ^^;

Hummm..
The background is fantastic, but in this case, it would look better if you outlined each individual brick in black; seeing as how all the lines in Mayu are very bold. Try and balance it better.
As always, Mayu is incredibly kawaii - but her nose isn't that big *pokes*
Come to think of it, the whole picture would look better if it wasn't for the bold outlining in Mayu. Her hair, for example. It'd look a bit more realistic without the outlining.
As for the tongue, some people actually DO have tongues like that. Like.. me >>;

And from now on, I promise to try and be more of a critic than a close friend gushing about how jealous of your talent I am xD

her nose is too that big. D:< lol [[you know what they say about big noses..]
..owait. that's for guys. <_<;
and yeah I see what you mean by the bold lines. makes it look too cartoon-y.
but who ever said that was a bad thing? xD [/lame cover-up excuse for crappy arts] lawlz
